having said that... i'm in desperate need of some like-minded artists who will congregate with me on all topics art-related, and talk about their art and what they're working on at the moment; art shows they're entering and suggestions to others about relative art shows; new art supplies; new exhibitions and openings; and just newsworthy art/music/poetry/dance/performance stuff. who else is interested? if you are, and you care about helping your sisters and brothers in art, then go here to the facebook page and sign up to stay updated as to when and where we meet each month http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_186976554692292
this month, we are meeting at the 'loaded lizard' in mudjimba on the sunshine coast. it will be on wednesday afternoon, the 27th july at 530pm, and will go until 630 or whenever everyone leaves. so please come along, bring a friend or 7, and show us what you're working on. we might be able to help you if you're stuck, or offer suggestions as to where you should take it to sell it, or whatever. it's an open forum. they have coffee there too. and beer. and wine. enjoy!
and... just to kick off the spirit, i put together this fabulous quote that sums up the salon mission:
you entered this world as an artistic genius.
curious. playful. somewhat tenacious.
but over the years society molded you into an obedient, well-mannered citizen. your questions became more polite, the decisions safer, and the answers more certain.
***WE'RE HERE TO REVERSE THE JOURNEY***
we want to unleash your imagination. and dare we say, make every single person on this planet one percent more creative??
does this sound a bit naive? if not a little overambitious? we agree. our vision is easy to criticise, ridicule and dismiss. but we feel it’s a small price to pay in order to encourage your independency and nurture your brainchildren.
it’s not an easy task. it’s a never-ending battle.
because the world is full to the brim of faceless bureaucrats and greedy bullyboys just waiting to assassinate your ideas with just a flick of the wrist.
so whatever you do, don’t just do it. put your heart and soul into it.
love it.
hate it.
turn it up-side-down.
turn it inside-out.
bend it.
break it.
shake it up.
torture it.
blow it up.
whatever you do, don’t just do it.
